“Do I need a chest rig?”  You have probably asked this already yourself at some point. I did and I do “need” one. But to be honest, only in terms of weight reduction (in comparison to a plate carrier). Also for the OPFOR roles in most games it is often not allowed to use some kind of plate carrier or body armor with harness, therefore chest rigs are more suitable – and in my opinion a lot more comfortable to wear. Not to forget some other perks.

SSO Bober Assault Backpack

I am really happy that I can finally review, or better said, show and present you one of my favorite items made by SSO/SPOSN. The Bober (Бобер = Beaver) assault backpack has become my constant companion in my daily life and on the weekend battlefields. It also displaced the “sack” like EastPak from my high school times I had used until now.

SSO Gorka E (Костюм CCO ГОРКА-Е)

Since in Europe/ Germany it is quite difficult to get your hands on a Gorka E, it took me a while to finally get one myself. I bought this particular one second hand on http://www.red-alliance.net from a guy from Croatia (Puno hvala!). As I already reviewed and wrote about the Gorka-1, also known as Soviet Gorka. I recommend you to read this review first, to get to know the origins of the Gorka Suit itself and the main difference to its modernized and perfected descendant.

After waiting month after month and dying in excitement, I finally got my hands of one of these fine Russian SSO/SPOSN (ССО – Союз Спец Оснащение) made assault backpacks.

First of all the dry facts about this versatile backpack:

  • Medium sized assault backpack with a capacity of 45 liters
  • One large chamber (accessible from the top and bottom)
  • Two side pockets and two back pockets
  • Wide shoulder straps with quick release
  • Sturdy and comfortable main belt
  • Backpack made of waterproof cordura
  • Extra straps on top, bottom and both sides for attaching additional equipment
